Installation of new vats at Clos de Riousse

Le Clos de Riousse

This estate is a Nivernais vineyard, located in the hamlet of Riousse, in the commune of Livry in the department of Nièvre, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Its origins date back to Louis XI thanks to the Duke of Bourbon and his wife Anne de Beaujeu who were at the origin of its creation in the 15th century and owner until 1697. After the two great wars and the loss of many of the estate's winegrowers, the vineyard had practically disappeared with plots of land lying fallow in the 1960s and 1970s. It was not until 1992 that the estate was revived under the influence of the local municipality with the rehabilitation of the vineyard and the creation of the SCEA Clos de Riousse by enthusiasts, who succeeded in developing a wine-making structure in 1995 and the construction of a brand new cellar in 1999.

The wines are made from renowned noble grape varieties, such as Chardonnay for the white, Pinot and Gamay for the cellar-aged red.
