A philosophy based on respect for the environment

The vine is the cornerstone of their profession and the basis of their future terroir wines. It was in these vineyards that David Faivre drew his passion and acquired the ability to interpret the typicity of his terroir. Over time, he has come to understand that, with care and respect, grapes become more expressive.

For 10 years now, their viticulture has been resolutely committed to respecting the environment. Many changes have been made, including the introduction of grass cover, tillage, the elimination of herbicides and inputs, natural fertilisation and water management. Fierté inégalité has been awarded Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification since 2016. Their fight for natural preservation between species, the stimulation of plant defences and the protection of the soil all bear witness to their commitment. In 2020, they are taking the next step by committing us to full conversion to organic viticulture.

• Le Meunier : King of Belval grape variety
The DNA of their house, Meunier, reigns supreme over the Belval terroir. This favourite grape variety offers a complexity of aromas combining fruitiness with delicate finesse. Fragile if overworked, it reveals its subtlety and generosity when respected.

• L'Or de Faivre : Atypical and historic
David's first cuvée, L'Or de Faivre is distinguished by its barrel-making, its shape and its old-fashioned style. It embodies the philosophy of Maison R. Faivre philosophy.

A history of passion and transmission

Their story began in 1953 with the creation of the Maison de Champagne in Belval-sous-Chatillon, founded by his grandfather, Robert Faivre. The cooperative model of the time was based on pooling resources. Bernard, his father, courageously took over the farm in the 1970s. After his death, David took over in 2000.

David Faivre : Revealing local produce

Convinced of the need for sustainable growing practices, they drew up strict specifications in 2000. The first reflection on wine-making began in 2008 with the creation of the pressing centre. In 2016, their commitments were rewarded with HVE and Viticulture Durable en Champagne certification. Proud of these achievements, they switched to the cooperative model in 2017 to make their own cuvées with the help of expert Richard Dailly.

Looking to the future

Respect for biodiversity, conservation of water resources and reducing their carbon footprint guide their viticulture. Their revolution continues in 2020 with the launch of full conversion to organic viticulture for all their plots. They are proud to present a range of champagne wines imbued with a genuine terroir identity, in perfect harmony with their environmental convictions.
