A heritage of passion and innovation

Nestling in the charming village of Riousse-Livry in southern Burgundy, Domaine Bois Bourbon covers 15 hectares of fertile land. The estate meticulously cultivates the grape varieties typical of the Burgundy region: Chardonnay, Gamay and Pinot Noir. Guillaume de la Brosse, a passionate winemaker and native of the region, runs the estate with dedication, surrounded by his partners Marian Lein and Jeroen Dewulf. Together, they took over the estate in November 2021 under the banner of Société SCEA Bois Bourbon. Discover this green setting:

The story

Domaine Bois Bourbon has a rich history dating back to the 16th century, beginning under the influence of the Duke of Bourbon and Anne de Beaujeu. At that time, Anne de Beaujeu, daughter of Louis XI and regent of France, marked the beginning of this illustrious wine-growing lineage. The estate played a crucial role in French history, remaining in royal hands until the time of Louis XIV in 1697. Today, the new team is writing a new page in this history.

The wines

Domaine Bois Bourbon offers a range of wines that illustrate the mastery and expertise of its winemakers. The thirty-year-old vines produce grapes that offer maturity and complexity when tasted.

  • Chardonnay 'Les Murailles' : A well-balanced, fresh, round and flavoursome wine, vinified in oak barrels.
  • Pinot Noir 'Les Chênes' : Expresses elegance and notes of red fruit, ideal for drinking between 14 and 16°C.
  • Gamay : A lively wine, to be enjoyed young or aged to discover its full elegance.
  • Rosé : Perfect for aperitifs, this wine is made from direct pressing of Gamay and Pinot Noir grapes.
  • Le Rioussat : A sparkling wine made using the Champagne method, with a seductive balance and freshness.

The vines

Ideally situated 500 metres from the Allier, the vines of Domaine Bois Bourbon benefit from a favourable microclimate on sandstone and clay-limestone soil. This diversity of subsoils enriches the character of each wine, varying from vintage to vintage. The estate practises respectful viticulture, harvesting some of the vines by hand to preserve the quality of the grapes.

Vinification

Vinification at Domaine Bois Bourbon is an alchemy of tradition and modernity. Guillaume and his team use advanced techniques such as temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and a stainless steel pneumatic press, while respecting the Burgundian tradition of ageing in oak barrels. This approach allows them to fully express the nobility and purity of each grape variety.

Choosing temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks

In 2022, the estate enhanced its equipment with the acquisition of 8 new temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, reinforcing its commitment to precision winemaking. We would like to thank the teams of Guillaume Delabrosse, Jeroen and Marian Dewulf-Lein for their confidence in this investment project. These vats, chosen for their quality and cutting-edge technology, were supplied by Arsilac.

We wish them every success in their pursuit of excellence at Domaine Bois Bourbon.

This estate, with its rich heritage and modern aspirations, continues to shine as a jewel of Burgundy, offering wines that are truly art in the bottle.
